Gateshead Council Arts Development Team: ‘Creative Makings’

Creative Makings is a year-long programme of participatory Visual Arts activities encompassing a broad range of 2 and 3D specialisms for people to trial, discover and explore with themes of re-cycling, re-using, re-inventing and thrift.

On behalf of Gateshead Libraries Service, the Arts Development Team has engaged three artists to carry out residencies which explore the idea of Creative Makings.

Each of the three residencies will be based at a library in Gateshead; Blaydon Library, Birtley Library and Gateshead Central Library. The residencies, each lasting approximately 5 months will culminate with a final event celebrating the project in the Spring 2015 at Gateshead Central Library in collaboration with Shipley Art Gallery.

Gateshead Council’s Library Service in partnership with the Arts Development Team has been successful in sourcing funding from the Arts Council Grants for the Arts Libraries Fund.
